A Nice, Quiet Weekend At Home

Welcome to Day 3 of sitting around the house trying to figure out what to do today.

Not that Labor Day weekend has been boring, I've just run out of ideas to do. I rode my bike, I went to RibAmerica Festival, but since I was by myself, I didn't stick around the whole day. I walked around a couple of malls. I looked for things to decorate my apartment.

I'm just out of ideas now. I think I may miss being out on the road this weekend. It's weird. When I'm sitting in hotel rooms, all I can think about is how nice it would be to be at home at that moment.

Now, I'm home, and I don't want to be here.

The Thrill Of The Grass

The smell of the ballpark in my nose and the cool of the grass on my feet. The thrill of the grass. . . ."

"Shoeless" Joe Jackson in "Field of Dreams"

I've been on the field at major college football games and caught a pass at the Cotton Bowl. I've walked on the floor at the Southwest Conference tournament, but nothing compares to the thrill of a Major League Baseball field.

Thanks to my friend Tim, who used to work in baseball, I got to walk on the field at Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia following the Phillies' win over the Brewers last Saturday night. I've been to a lot of stadiums, but there was something about being in a big league ballpark and walking on the grass.

Now I know what Shoeless Joe was talking about.
