In Memory Of A Friend

One year ago today, my friend Casey Kane passed away after a long battle with cancer, and the more I think about it, the more I think it's still not fair.

Casey probably got more out of life than anyone I knew. I know she was happy that I found a job I loved with the IRL. I know she would have been absolutely nuts when Lance Armstrong won the Tour or when her beloved Red Sox won the World Series. She read all of our blogs just to keep up, even though hers lasted only a couple of entries.

Just before she died, she wrote to me that she had become a fan of NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne for obvious reasons. Last week, when Kahne won his first NASCAR race, that's all I could think of.

There's not a day since I heard last year when I don't think about Casey. I guess I just really miss her still.

Month of May begins...

Today was the opening day of practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so I woke up like a kid on Christmas morning. I didn't have to go to the track until 11 a.m., but I went at 9:30 a.m.

I guess I was excited that the Month of May has begun. Seeing cars going around the track just makes me feel good.

I also got a nice surprise from my parents. My mom was allowed to go home for a visit today. She is doing better according to myDad, in fact, she's going home from the hospital on Tuesday.
