I am a jedi...or am I obsessed

I stayed up way to late last night, and was late to Sunday softball but not because I was watching old episodes of Trading Spaces on my TiVo(it could happen, especially if my man Vern is on). It wasn't because I was surfing the internet looking for my next job (though I should be getting off my ass and trying to do so) And it wasn't because I was packing for a trip I'm not taking for a few days (that would just be sad). No the true reason I stayed up too late was video games.

I know you probably think I stayed up until dawn playing Golden Tee at a bar, or went home and played XBOX hockey or NCAA football on the ps2 (OK.. I'm a little addicted here) No, I have a new obsession, and it's name is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

I'm not much of a role-playing gamer, even if my college friends made me play D&D and Vampire against my will. I know Marcus and Geoffrey were proud of me when I bought Phantasy Star Online. So buying this Star Wars game (I know... I would buy dogshit if Lucas put it out) is really a big step for me. My character became a padawan last night, and I couldn't help but play with my powers. Hello sunrise... is Chick-Fil-A open yet?

And now you know the rest of the story

STUFF I FORGOT TO SAY

If you are looking here for news about the people I know. You've come to the wrong place. I won't mention any more news that I hear from other friends until I'm told by the people it happens to. I'll just be the last to know everything.

Why am I not going to publicize other's news? It's really quite simple. 1. You could read it on their own websites. 2. The people in question may want to tell you personally later. 3. I never intended to be the Village gossip.

So sorry to anyone I may have angered because someone overheard me say something to someone else about some people who used to work with us, which he or she told someone else about and that person ended up posting it on their blog, before the people we used to work with hadn't really told anyone yet.

Got it? Well you're better off now

I just remembered. The people I apologized to, they don't really read my blog, so it all for naught.

ARGH!

I brought a pen to work today. It's a nice pen -- one that my dad gave to me when I graduated from school. I'm pretty fond of it, and because of that, it's not usually too far away from me.

So when I reached for it tonight and it wasn't in my pocket, I got a tad bit concerned.

Where could it be? Is it in my pants that I wore to work today? I'm pretty sure I grabbed everything out of my pants pocket when I changed at home

Is it still in the office? The last time I remember using it was at work. But I've looked everywhere around my desk and in sports. Short of somebody borrowing it and walking off with it, I don't know where it could be here. Nobody has sent me a note claiming responsibility for taking it.

I hope it's at home, then it just means I'm losing my mind. Help me.

NOTE: I found my pen at home... I'm just going crazy.

SUNDAY IS FUN DAY

Sunday has turned into a day I really look forward to.

First, it's a the day before I generally have a couple of days off.

Second, it's a day where I don't have to do the front, so I can come into work a little late and since a lot of sports happen early in the day, I get done early.

And third, it's the day a bunch of us get together to play a game of softball.

I know, you're probably wondering what happened to the kickball game I talked about last month, well, we really wanted to play softball, but were afraid that people wouldn't show up. That and we killed three of those playground balls. But back to softball.

Team captains Dan and Candy always try to pick even teams and we always have between 14-16 people show up for games. And though I don't always hit or pitch perfectly, it's a lot of fun and it's a great way to hang out with your friends.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

Fond wishes to all my readers out there (and you know who you are) for a safe Independence Day. If you are not working today, please think of me slaving away at my desk so working on a newspaper that will sit on a lawn while people are away for the three-day weekend. I'm not bitter about working on holidays... no not at all.

Also, since I just read this on Marcus' site. Congrats to my friends, and owners of the cutest puppy in Anderson, Ian (no website) and Emily on their engagement.

All my friends and family are having babies or getting married. To borrow a phrase from the soon to be married Geoffrey, "Man alive (borrowed phrase), I'm so behind in this game of life."

RECHARGING THE BATTERIES

It's amazing what a couple days away from here will do to you. I went to Charleston the last few days to visit Marcus and Jim, two friends that recently moved to one of the coolest cities I've been to in a long time. Though I didn't get to spend much time with Marcus, because he had to work, I still had a blast.

I've been to Charleston before, but that time we were trapped inside a building downtown, and the only thing we did was drive down King Street to the Battery, then decide we wanted to go home. This time, I got to see a lot of the sites that I wanted to see.

Some of the highlights:
* Going to the movies with Marcus and paying less money because the girl selling tickets thought I was in high school.
* Taking a shortcut that put us exactly in the same spot as where we left the original road.
* Hanging out with Marcus' friends from the Post and Courier and seeing he has friends that don't work there now too.
* Having good times with old friends.

Now I'm back home. I guess I'm ready to go back to work. But the pull of the big city -- a place like Charleston, or Indy, or Dallas -- is starting to attract me mpore and more.
