A friend in need...
There's a lot going on in my life. My mom is home after open-heart surgery. My cousin is safe after evacuating New Orleans. My townhouse closing is on Monday, and I'll be moving over the next couple of weeks.
I was planning on giving a lot of the stuff I don't need to Goodwill, or the Salvation Army for hurricane victims, and I was going to give money to the Red Cross for hurricane relief through work because I knew my company's owner's were going to match every dollar I gave with $2.
That $50 I was going to spend on the next video game I want, would be $150 and better spent anyways.
With such a widespread tragedy like Hurricane Katrina has wraught over the Gulf Coast, it's hard not to know someone who has been affected. Here's mine:
Paris Moulden worked with me in Anderson, and took over my job when I left. In June, she and her husband Terry moved back to Biloxi, Miss to be closer to their family. They left their apartment, and thankfully, they are safe. Their apartment was destroyed and they lost everything.
People in Anderson are going to take up a collection for them. I think I'll send something their way too.
